The homeowners decided to convert
this spare room into a library/media
room after a faulty steam fixture had
damaged an adjoining room. Another
contractor already had started the
project, but the ceiling structure had to
be modified, and the HVC vents and
speaker boxes roughed out by the
former contractor had to be repositioned to work with the molding
transitions in the ceiling.
Speakers were placed in the ceiling
soffit, and the flat-screen TV lift was
positioned in the center base cabinet
below. Electrical outlets were dropped
into the baseboard, and all lighting
switches were centrally located into an
upper corner wainscot panel.
Decorative columns were placed
around the cabinetry and seating area.
Green materials such as Lyptus wood
were used at the customer’s request.
The plywood used in the room was
domestically harvested and manufactured
with formaldehyde-free adhesives.
