The homeowners had several objectives with this remodeling project: open the basement floor plan for entertaining, create a space for the homeowner’s wine collection, reface the existing fireplace, design a space for a home theater, create a game area large enough for a billiard table and a wet bar for entertaining.

The challenge to creating all these different spaces was that there were multiple load-bearing block walls, so in order to remove them, the project required fletch plates and micro lams to be used.

For the home theater, an arched niche surrounds the plasma TV and matching niches on either side surround wall sconces.

Space was taken from a mechanical storage area in order to put in the wet bar. The fireplace was replaced with natural lannon stone, which matches the exterior of the house. Hammered copper was used for the countertops and matches the existing table in the wine tasting room.
