This home originally had a two-stall garage that was only accessible from the rear of the house through a porte-cochere. What the homeowners wanted— and received from this project—was a three-and-a-half car addition with attic storage space that matched the Tudor style of the original home. The new space also had to be engineered to withstand the weight and height of an eventual car lift so two cars could be stored in the same space.

Regional Winners

During the demolition phase, tile and matching brick were salvaged, and all possible material was reclaimed. A 4-foot foundation wall was excavated, and trusses were set 16 inches off center to accommodate heavy loads, including the clay tile protecting the roof pitches.
