This transformation started by taking the
house down to stud. The exterior was
recreated using recycled and renewable
materials. The former side porch became
a master bedroom; the kitchen was
redone and relocated on the lower level,
with a pantry added; and the stairway
was remade, with a pocket door in place
of the original breezeway door, which
allowed for more head room.

There wasn’t any plumbing under the
majority of the lower level, so the
concrete floor had to be removed,
plumbing set in place and then the
concrete re-poured.

Lighting was added in several places—
exterior lighting was added with timers
and auto dimmers, and interior task and
general lighting were placed throughout
the house. The home has an integrated
lighting system that is controlled via
remote control.
