Organization, function and storage were
key for this remodeling job. The kitchen
space was enlarged to part of the dining
area and den, which caused a major
obstacle when the owner wanted to
extend it 2 feet more after framing. That
extra 2 feet extended the kitchen to a
bearing post, which the remodeler then
incorporated into the rounded corner of
the new den wall. The owner wanted the
laundry chute in the kitchen but wanted
it concealed so a custom panel was
ordered and stained to mimic the look of
the cabinets.

This kitchen offers many unique
features, including a built-in toe kick
step stool for easier access to the
countertop. Other items of interest are
the Corian pull-out cutting board, the
two spice rack cabinets, the bread
drawer and the recycle bins as well as
garbage receptacles.

GFCI outlets were used for safety
reasons, and all the electrical wiring
was brought up to code. Xenon strip
lighting was covered from view as under
cabinet lights, and high hats and halogen lighting were used in the soffits for
extra task lighting.
